Why dont i have any close friends?

I'm not ugly. I shower every day. I play soccer, basketball, cross country, and track. I'm 13 in 8th grade. I go to Catholic school. People like to talk to me but never real friends. I only go out alone or with my parents. People tell me I'm funny I that everyone is my friend but that gets me really sad. I try my best to talk but everyone is with there own friends or following the cool people. I have fun with them a recess but then they just leave, and every time I go to look on facebook I see them having fun and I get all depressed. I know I shouldn't compare myself to them but I just wish I had one friend. I am also atheist but have told nobody, I lost my faith to my interest in science not anger. please help!!!!

Try to find the kid with no best friend and persistently talk to an hang out with them... It's what I did.

Just hang in there and make more of an effort to become friends with 1 or 2 people that you maybe run with, instead of speaking to a lot of people casually. Decide who you think you can easily become friends with and ask them if they want to go out with you and tell them that you want to do things, that way you're letting them know you want to get to know them better as friends.
