twitter and celebs??

I'm new on twitter, and i'm following a few celebrities. I see their tweet, but I'm really confused because not as many people as I expected 'retweet' the tweet, reply to it or favourite it.
I mean, they are celebrities and have loads of followers...how come no one replies their tweets?
Do they have to follow you before you reply on their tweets?

People do reply to them. But they dont always show up when you click the tweets. No, they dont need to be following you..you can still reply on their tweets even if thy are not following you.
Go to the search bar and write @ and their username near the symbol. then click All tweets, and you will see that they get lots of tweets always.
Oh and if they have a blue badge on their profile, that means they are verified and they are the real celebs. If they have no blue badge, then its a fake account trying to be the celeb. Hope i helped!
