Help choosing a research topic?
I have to write a research paper on social media or social networks and how it is affecting something in today's world. I thought about writing about how media is affecting young children and their development/social interactions, but I was hoping you guys could help me brainstorm and come up with some other topic ideas. Another example of a possible topic is how social networking is affecting dating and relationships. Any help brainstorming topic ideas is appreciated! Thanks!

you could talk about:
-how social networks can affect bullying
-how social networks affect the way we get news (an the effect on traditional newspapers)
-how social media is used by advertisers and hollywood (celebrities tweeting how much they like certain products, advertisements using you social network profiles to customize ads.)
I'm sure there are even more, but here are a few ideas!

I would compare online dating today with the invention of online bb's and Internet access in the early 1990's.

Today, *dating* (boy meets girl, boy talks to girl, boy asks girl for number, boy asks girl on a date," ............... does not even (usually) involve MEETING. In other cases, those who meet often fall victims to hoaxes.

Why don't you do a paper on the recent topic of Cat-Fishing on dating sites:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catfish_(film) <-- Catfish/The Film .... I would *not* mention the latest media hype ... keep it relevant.
