What type of Internet service do you have?

The device you cite in your question is a refurbished DSL gateway. This will only work if you have a DSL Internet service plan.

Two types of Internet devices are commonly sold.

1. Combination modem / routers, often called gateways.

2. Stand alone routers which can be connected to a stand alone modem.

DSL and Cable modems use different technology, for this reason you can't use a cable gateway (DOCSIS) with DSL or use a DSL gateway (ADSL2+) with a cable Internet connection.

You need a wireless router with an external WAN connection to connect to a Internet source or external broadband modem.

Wireless routers are fairly inexpensive. http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&...xcharge-20

As far as the brand goes, the brand is not as important as the model. Some manufacturers release a good model but the next is crap. I would look at the Amazon reviews of models that interest you. Even if you don't buy from Amazon the reviews will tell you a lot about which models to avoid. Look for at least 15 or more reviews with a 4 star or better rating. Read a few and see if they sound like the particular model will work for your application.

To connect to the Internet you need a WAN connection from an ISP. (Comcast,AT&T, Verizon,Etc.),

You are connected to two networks when you connect to the Internet through a wireless router.

The first network is your LAN.

The LAN consists of all the computers and devices hooked to your wireless router. Connections can be via Ethernet cables or WiFi. You can transfer files and share resources between the devices connected to your LAN.

The second network connected to your router is the WAN.

The Internet is a Wide Area Network or WAN. You need a Internet plan from a ISP and a broadband modem or gateway to provide a connection to the ISP. This connection bandwidth is shared by your entire LAN via your router. For example if you have a 3 Mbps DSL plan and one user is utilizing 2 Mbps of the bandwidth to stream a Netflix movie that only leaves 1 Mbps for all of the rest of the users on the LAN.

You need a wireless router to provide WiFi to your iPod and Kindle, however you also need a ISP plan and some type of interface (modem) to access the Internet service provided by the ISP.

Good Luck...

I'd recommend 300Mbps one but this would work great too
