Why is my mac applications CD not working?

so my mom gave me her mac book pro and i restarted it to be under my name, however, it deleted all my applications, so i put in the first CD and installed it, then i put in the second disc (applications disc) put it said that its unable to install. Can someone please help me get my applications back
