How long does a crush last?

Read my previous questions for more details. We have never spoken to each other before because we are both extremely shy people. The ontly thing we do is make eye contact like crazy. Neither of us has been in a relationship before. We follow each other on twitter but we still haven't talked to each other. I've never felt this way about anyone in my life. When I was a kid, I had puppy love for a few people but that was only because they took advantage of me. I'm really serious about this guy. My friend (who's a guy) is good friends with him. He swore not to tell him I like him. He said I should talk to him. I'm just too shy though. I'm the kind of person who is shy, quiet and innocent. My crush is very popular at school. He keeps sending me mixed signals though. When we're in class together he always stares at me. I can't look at him for too long because I makes me want to like him even more. I'm too shy of a person! My friend texted me saying that on twitter, he tweeted that he loves being single. I like being single too but he keeps staring at me like he wants to be something more than friend's. Anytime I'm near him he always hesitates and turns and looks at me. I Always blush and look away. We have so much in common. We're both the top art students. My friend talks to him all the time do he knows a lot about him. My friend said that my crush keeps saying he's happy to be single. Why is this? One day during passing period I was walking with my friends and he was walking with his ahead of me. I realized my friends weren't behind me anymore so I walked ahead. My crush was a few feet in front of me, got behind his friends, looked at me, and I looks at him (but looked down because im too shy!!), when we made eye confact, it lasted for a few seconds, then he turned back around and walked to his next class. Was he trying to tell me something? Why does he keep doing this to me if he doesn't want to date? He's really confusing me. What should I do?

Ive been in a situation like this before and guys are soooo weird! mixed signals are the wost! xp if you guys havent talked then i would get to know him more! he could look really cute but turn out to be a douche. your friend is right! maybe try flirting with him as well! this is tough to decifer but i hope you figure it out! and follow me on twitter! @Ima___Monster
