How do I convince my parents to let me get a Facebook account?

My dad thinks that if I'm Facebook, the computer will get viruses an then we'll have to get a new cmputer. My mom thinks it is a waste of time. But I want to be able to talk to my friends over the summer. How do I convinve them getting a Facebook account is a good idea?

Also, if I make an account my parents don't know about, my family who does have an account will probably tell my parents, then I'll be in trouble.

Just make it and block your family members...duhhh. You cant get virus from facebook, your parents sound technologically impaired.

Getting a Facebook is a good idea cuz u can connect with people u haven't seen in a while. It also makes talking alot easier. U can't get viruses from fb unless you click on some spammer link or download stuff to change ur profile color. But if u do get a facebook, try to limit ur self cuz its rlly addicting.

You can convince them by saying that all your family members who are living in different countries are using Facebook too. So it will be easy to get in touch with them.

Definitely don't make one with out them knowing.
Just act mature and tell your mom its not because you could talk to all of your old friends. Face books only virus is if u log in and there is a picture of a phone that says heading says says "Heading out?"
But that will only hack your account.
to make them approve of it even more, say that they could check your account daily. Also, my way of helping anyone who wants something that their parents don't approve of, is by doing extra chores, or something. help you parents out around the house. I hope i've helped.
