Can't decide iPhone 5 or iPod Touch 5?
Hello Y/A,

AS of right now I'm using a simple multimedia phone with no feature of data plan, just simple call/text phone and I've been looking at the iPod Touch 5th generation, it looks amazing. I have never owned an iPod Touch nor an iPhone. With 300 dollars spare on my hands, I almost bit the bullet and bought the iPod Touch.

My friend stopped me and told me that I should not get an iPod Touch, because of it's lack of ability to SURF the web (check Facebook, etc), and how an iPod Touch is basically just a device of apps/music at most public places. And he insisted that I buy an iPhone.

But with the data plan starting at $30 and locking you for 2 years, I'm wondering if that's really worth it. $200 for the iPhone 5, and 30$/month for 2 years, that's near $1000 total.

Based on your experiences with the iPod Touch or iPhone, which one is really worth it?

Please no other suggestion to android or tablets, as this is my 2 choices, Thank you!

The extra money that an iPhone costs when compared to the additional features in my own opinion is hugely unbalanced. Sure you can call, text and surf the internet when out and about, but so can the majority of phones you can buy nowadays. All of the features that are exclusive to Apple devices are available on the iPod touch. Far better value for money if you get yourself an iPod if you ask me.

Well one makes phone calls and one doesn't. So it depends what you plan on using it for. As far as apps ... well thats what you will be using, like facebook app, twitter app, etc.

I would get the iPhone 5. You will be getting an upgrade soon either way right? and if you get the iPod then what will you do when you upgrade to a smartphone? You will come to a point where you barely use the iPod. Just get the iPhone because eventually you will upgrade to a smartphone and will be paying the same amount for data.
