How do you delete a facebook account?

I'm getting tired of facebook. I just think it's really annoying and other thing to have to look at. How do you delete a facebook account?

This is a challenge very little men have undertaken so far. It is perilous and painfull. The delete option is found in the settings menu, but beware, because it is a long process. It takes up to 6 weeks to delete the account, and there are perilous traps and temptations since any login within those 6 weeks stops the deleting of the account. Also using the account to login, like or even visit some sites does the same. Take this warning ligtly and thou shall certainly fail. May god have mercy on your soul.
