Why are One Direction fans so weird?

I'm not a "Directioner" or whatever, but I also don't hate the guys in the band. I do, on the other hand, find their fans extremely weird. Like why do they think all the guys in the band are gay? I just find it weird that they pine over these boys, yet they trend things on Twitter about them being homosexual. Nothing wrong with being gay, but why?

Also, if someone calls Justin Bieber gay, Belibers go batsh** crazy and defend him, but they agree when people call One Direction gay.

I think out of all those guys, Justin Bieber would be the gay one.

So, if you're a Directioner, can you explain it to me?
I'm also not hating Justin Bieber. I like him, actually. I mean, I like him as a person. I don't like his music, but he seems like a cool guy. Same goes for 1D. I don't like their music, but they seem nice.
