Where can you find an etiquette guide for social media?

I've often heard people disparage celebrities who plead for privacy from paparazzi by saying something along the lines of "If they want privacy, they shouldn't be celebrities" as if somehow because of their job, they should want to live in a 24/7 fishbowl. I admit, until recently I might have agreed with that sentiment. With the advent of tech aided social media, I have found myself in the fishbowl more than once and frankly, I don't much care for it. I am being followed on Pintrest, have had people comment on my Spotify music choices, articles I've read on Yahoo and been tagged in more unflattering photos than I care to think about. Sometimes I didn't even know the pic was being taken. I've managed to turn off some sharing settings, but invasions keep cropping up. Short of going off the grid, what can I do to preserve some privacy?
