How do I disable Blackberry Apps whilst on holiday?

I'm going abroad tomorrow and I was wondering, how do I block BBM, (and emails, facebook, twitter - any apps that constantly update) without having to delete it so that it won't charge me extra whilst I'm away? I'm on 3 if that helps.

Would firewall work? Or would it still charge me?

Just turn off data services.

Manage Connections icon - Mobile Network Options

Data Services: Off

Voice and messaging will still work but email and any app that requires data will not.
