How does Twitter work? lol?

I get the basis lol. But when I do the @johnsmith thing, does that person see the tweet? Or can only I and my followers see it? and with the hash (#) thing, to make something trend, i just type what i want after that, right? haha.

Everyone can see your "@johnsmith" unless if you block it. And your right with the ## but i think there can't be spaces when u write it. E.g #sobored #so bored
