it depends on your audience that you are trying to target, but a good way is maybe using twitter, face book, and other social media to tell people about your website

-Search Engines
-Social Media
-Web Directories
-Backlinks
-Direct Visitors

Content is king. Nothing will bring more visitors and backlinks to your site than unique outstanding content that is relevant to the theme of your site.

Depending on the specific keywords that you are trying to target, and how competitive those terms are, I would add more relevant textual content and try to get some incoming links to your site from sites with similar themes.

Just because your site shows up on a search engine does not guarantee massive traffic.

For example what search phrase does your site show up for?
On what page and position does your site appear for a given phrase?
How often is that phrase searched each month?
What does the listing look like, would you click it over the others that appear?
How many different keyword phrases does your site appear on page one of the search results for?

There are multiple ways to get Google and other search engine traffic:

1.) PPC (Pay Per Click) Google uses a paid advertising program called "Google AdWords" http://www.google.com/adwords/?sourceid=..._p&clickid

2.) Organic or natural search results. These are the results that show up after Google runs it's search engine algorithms for a given search phrase.

In either case if you want your website to appear for a given search phrase it needs to be relevant.

For example if you did a search for "red wigets" then Google will search it's paid advertising (PPC) pool for customers that bid on that phrase, either in the exact or broad sense. The paid ads get displayed at the top and along the side of the search results. There are many factors other than cost which determine the order in which the paid results will be displayed. You can find out more on the Google AdWords site.

Below the paid ads are the natural results. The order of the natural results also depends on many factors such as relevancy of the content, keyword density, number and quality of incoming links, age of site, etc. If you would like more information read this http://www.dummies.com/Section/Search-En...10387.html or do a search for "SEO" Search Engine Optimization"

You can manually add your sites to the major search engine indexes. This is the best way.

Google - https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/...durl&pli=1
Yahoo / Bing - http://www.bing.com/toolbox/submit-site-url
Open Directory - http://www.dmoz.org/add.html

If you have good content, you will get more traffic from these 3 then you will from a automated submission to 10,000 sites.

Good Luck...

Cheap adverting, that has been proven to be effective I used the advertising services they have on this page for a month and it shot my numbers through the roof, they made me a radio commercial and they advertised my website on several of the owner's websites, scroll to the bottom and see what they do with advertising http://www.150dollarwebsite.com/get-your-website.html
