CENTRELINK Question about Youth Allowance?
I know someone from centrelink answers questions on here so I was wondering. My grandparents have just put money into my account for christmas and it is a sum of over $15,000. Do I need to call up to cancel my youth allowance payments because I believe I am not entitled to receive the benefits anymore.

Hi there, I work with the Department of Human Services in a team that responds to questions about Centrelink payments and services on social media sites like this. You should report the amount as a one-off gift. One-off gifts are usually exempt as income so it may not affect your income bank balance or your normal Youth Allowance. I'd suggest contacting us within 14 days of when you received the gift to discuss you circumstances http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/contact-us/. All the best!
