Facebook and instagram asking me to confirm identity idk?

so i went to instagram yesterday and something like ''you need to enter instagram.com on a desktop and confirm identity'' etc. etc. and i went to the site and i had to put birth date, full name and email and upload a pic of passport, birth certificate and all that jazz. now today i went to facebook and the same thing happened. the url is facebook.com/checkpoint/. what is going on? nobody (seriously, NOBODY) that i know is having this problem. i feel really uncomfortable and somehow targeted, idk.

you are Not Being Targeted they Do That to Lots of Users its a Security Protection To make Sure your Account is Protected you have to Send it into them Unless it Gives you a another Verifcation Method Facebook and Instagram will not Let you Through until you go through the Security Check Point

Same thing is happening to me and I just REFUSE to prove I am real person. I didnt need to do this to get an account. And only a few thousand people have been TARGETED to do so. Yes, targeted. It's total crap!!!

I am experiencing the same thing. I've been locked out of my accounts since Sunday evening. I've submitted ID, and I am now waiting for a response.

I am still waiting for a response from facebook after I submitted my ID on monday 1/21. My daughter's Instagram account has been disabled because she's 12.
