Since it's usually an elective procedure, it won''t be covered just as it isn't now.

@BlackSunshine - The reason the democrats didn't shoot down the proposal for viagra for sex offenders was a procedural one and the proposal was a republican dirty trick.

As far as I know it will be covered, since the minimum amount doctors want a patient to be overweight by is 100 lbs which makes them morbidly obese, and not just overweight, and there are other evaluations the candidates must go through, its not as some think, a quick and easy way to lose weight.

DebbieP is sadly mistaken. It IS currently covered by medicaid and medicare. I believe it will be, but from my understanding major changes won't be implemented untill 2014.
