Supervisor at a new job immediately requested me on Facebook?
I know this can't be good. I have a personal life I like to keep away from work and just started a full time job yesterday. I have this problem everywhere I go. I start a new job and people want to get into my personal business. I have EVERYTHING set on private on Facebook because I want what I do on the weekends to be my business.

I have gone thru a nasty divorce and custody battle and I don't think it's office business. This woman is 30 years older than me. I don't want to hit "deny" because she is also my supervisor. I could end up in a tough situation where I offend her. Thoughts?
So when my friends tag me and them at a bar and this 60 year old woman shows my boss photos of me drinking it won't backfire like last time? I am 30. Last time I added a woman from work she gossip'd about everything I did to the office and I don't need the drama.

There is nothing to indicate that refusing would jeopardize your job.

Make a separate page just for her.

Simply do not answer the friend request, and for future reference make the settings on your Facebook so only friends can find you.

Just ignore the friend request.

I'd deny it and if she sends through another request, either tell her in person or via facebook private message that you prefer to not to have your work collegues as facebook friends for personal reasons. Its probably against the law for her to use it against you in the workplace.
