Is it this appropriate in the workplace dealing with children?
My sister works at a daycare and thinks it's okay to post pictures of the children on her instagram and other social media websites. I have told her that I don't think its okay or legal to take pics without the parents permission and that she could get in trouble for it. What do you think?

Most states require a signed parental permission form to do this.

The Internet has a lot of pedophiles and child molestors.

I agree, this could be problematic.

It is absolutely NOT ok for her to be doing this. At best, she can be reprimanded. At worst, she could be sued. She needs to remove all pictures she has posted of other people's children IMMEDIATELY.

Your sister needs to know what the state law requires in other to post pictures of her school kids on FB. Some parents may not like that because its an invasion of privacy. But Its something she has to check or you can check the state law for her.

I am in charge of marketing at the preschool I work at, and the short answer is yes... she can get in trouble for posting pics of children. Unless parents have given the preschool explicit written permission to use their child's photo or image, you may not do so. By doing so, she puts herself at risk of fines/legal action, as well as the school. You have to be very cautious when it comes to putting pictures of children online... you have to think about how some children may be in foster family or other custody situations where it might even be dangerous for them to have an image online if someone is looking for them. Your sister needs to remove all images for which she does not have written permission for use, and stop posting in the future, or risk possible legal action.
