pictures capture the moment, remember important times in your life, you can see how you look, snap a picture of your crush, etc.

If your wanting to get a mobile phone your defiantly going to want it to have a camera on it. The reason for that is lets say your just walking down a street. You don't have your regular camera with you because you didn't think you would see anything cool or important. But suddenly you see a really cool sunset, you see a celebrity who will let you take a picture with them, or you see your family and you want to take a picture for memories sake. If you don't have a camera on your pone then you won't be able to capture these wonderful memories on the go. so basically my main point is a camera phone will let you take important pictures when you didn't expect them to be there. Another Reason you would want a camera in your phone is so you wouldn't have to carry around a phone and a camera but you could just carry you camera phone.

I've used it for such things as:

Images of shelf edge tickets when shopping to price compare

Snapshot of a letterhead showing an address.

Snapshot of a appliance (cooker) serial number hat I couldn't otherwise read.

Snapshot of an item that I'm trying to find a duplicate of (picture worth 1000 words)...

Other scenarios:
Taking photos after a vehicle accident

It's not so much that you have a camera; it's that it's always with you and (most) of the time it's fully charged and ready to use. The local "Brown Owl" used her phone whenever she had forgotten to bring her camera when the Guides went out/did stuff at meetings. It's not a replacement, but it's a good substitute at a pinch.

1) Can use it as an emergency back-up when you see a good photo opportunity, but forgotten to bring your proper camera along - nearly all the best photo opportunities seem to crop up when you've forgotten your camera. Though most phone cameras are barely better than a webcam

2) With the iPhone, there's apps you can get to scan bar codes + QR Codes with the phone's camera.

3) With a normal camera, you have to wait 'til you get home to your computer until you can stick your pictures on Facebook or wherever. With a camera phone and mobile internet you can take a picture and upload it to facebook within a couple of minutes if you can get a signal.

4) With the "Distant Suns" Astronomy app for the iPhone, there's an "Augmented Reality" display mode which overlays an Astronomy chart over the picture from the phone's camera.
