How do you find someone on Facebook?

My friend and I live in Queensland, Australia and we went camping in Ballina, New South Wales, Australia. We met these guys and hanged out with them like everyday but didn't ask them for their contact information or if they have Facebook because we were kinda shy! :$ We only know their first names and in what state they live, so is there some easy way we could find them on Facebook or on any other social media?

The only way I know how is to search for all the people with that name in that place and see if you find them.

Use all the information you have as filters for your search. You might recognize a photo which would be enough to friend that person and perhaps find some of the other persons on his/her friends list in no time. A surname would definitely help, because it might be unique (not to mention email addresses) while first names are not. You can also check places/travel maps and attractions you went together to, because any of those persons might have added a photo with the correct location that could also be used as a starting point. Due to the thousands of visitors, however, there is no guarantee, and it might happen that you will never find them. In such a scenario, you need some luck too.
