Why does everyone list mainstream/currently popular rappers as the best? ?

Looked through peoples lists and saw lil wayne as #1 almost everywhere followed by drake and tons of other bs. Am I wrong for getting mad?

People, specially teenagers and young adults are influenced greatly by the media. Whether it's UMG, a local radio station, billboard ads, social networking media like FB, they direct their mind into listening to this specific music. Their peers and family members all affect their way of thinking. Mainstream music is all about the money, since people tend to follow the crowd, they listen to it because everyone does. You're not wrong for getting mad about this. I too see how these mainstream rappers make millions, from studio based music, they never sound as good as they do on the Internet or CDs when they're live on stage.
