How many tweets should a business make in a day?

In general, how many tweets should an online business make in a day to be effective but not to be considered spamming peoples twitter feeds?
The business is a clothing company run online with quite heavy traffic and we wish to become more online friendly and social media active.
Currently we are doing about 12 - 15 tweets a day

Hi Jaron,
Your tweet's quality matters not quantity. If the person is providing what their followers feel is relevant and useful information then the tweet count does not matter. On an average, 3-5 tweets per day are sufficient for any business.
