What is the difference between the Samsung Galaxy Ace and Samsung Galaxy Ace II?
I know it's an upgrade and should be better, but I would like some sort of summary that is easy to understand. I'm hoping to buy a phone for my Mum that is small, easy, smartphone so she can use Facebook, internet, Viber, Skype, BBC News, etc. She currently has HTC Wildfire S and the space is horribly bad and just so slow.

My budget isn't so high and not really interested if it's not HTC or Samsung.

Thanks!

The Galaxy Ace II is a dual core 800mhz processor while the Ace I has a single core 600mhz processor. The Ace II also has a higher wvga (480x800) display resolution while the Ace I has a (320x480) resolution. The Ace II is currently running Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) while the Ace I will be stuck on (Android 2.3) for the rest of eternity. Ace II has 768mB of RAM vs Ace I's 278mb RAM. Finally, the Ace II has 4GB of internal storage with expandable memory while the Ace I has 158mB of internal storage.

In short, the Ace II is a way better upgrade than the Ace I. Hope this helped.

Hi there,

The Samsung Galaxy Ace and the Galaxy Ace 2 do have some differences - the best one for your mum depends on what you think she'll prefer and what she wants from a phone.

The Galaxy Ace runs on Android Froyo operating system (2.2) and has a 3.5-inch TFT Touchscreen. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera with Autofocus and Google Search, Maps and Gmail integration along with YouTube.

There is a microSD card slot which boosts the 15MB internal memory up to 32GB so your mum has plenty of space for her apps and other bits and bobs.

Also included is a document viewer/editor and image editor, along with the TouchWiz interface, all encased in a farliy light 113grams package.

The Ace 2 runs on the more advanced Android Gingerbread operating system and has a slightly bigger 3.8-inch touchscreen display. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera and an additional secondary front-facing camera with 720p video recording.

Again, the 4GB internal memory can be boosted to 32GB with the microSD card slot and there is the Google Search, Maps, Gmail and YouTube integration along with an Image Editor and the TouchWiz interface, all weighing in to make a 114gram smartphone.

I hope this helps you with your decision on which phone to get for your mum - have a read around both handsets and see what you think is going to be the best fit and the most affordable - here's a link to our Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 page: http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/phone/Samsung_Galaxy_Ace_2/

Best wishes,

First of all you mother has a HTC Wildfire S, this phone released one month AFTER the SG Ace and is so similar to the SG Ace it would be more of a lateral move than an upgrade.

The HTC Wildfire S has 418 MB RAM which is MORE than the SG Ace 278 MB RAM so multitasking is better on here present phone

The Samsung Galaxy Ace II is a serious step up as it has a secondary camera ( video calls ) and is Dual Core it is a basic " Samsung Galaxy S II "

Summary? I DON'T DO WEATHER! Comparison the market OK ? http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idP...hone2=4559

Here is .CarPhoneWarehouse so you know what prices to aim for £100 , £180 Ace, Ace II .http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/search/?q=galazy%20ace
