How to do the settings on my dell laptop for the hdmi !?

I have the VGA hooked up on my dell Inspiron mini and I have the hdmi cable hooked on my HDTV . Now I just want it to show on the screen but I don't know how to setup the setting on my laptop , help pleasee !

there is a cable similar to the vga cable with hdmi on one end. use this type of cable. next use the tv as a monitor. check http://www.newegg.com

its all controlled by the advanced settings of your display adapter
if you had bothered to mention your model or even your video card
then i might have helped more

you need to know your tv settings exactly, usually 1366x768 is the norm
