My laptop does not turn on?

My laptop does not turn on?
Early this morning I decided to turn on my laptop. It was good for the first 5 seconds when it started at the dell screen and loaded. But then it suddenly shut off all by itself. So I assumed the battery needed to be charged so I hooked up my charger and proceeded to turn it back on. But every time I press the power button it seems to give the green light that it is turning on, and then suddenly shutting it back off 3 seconds later. I find this odd because just the previous night it was working completely fine with out any problems. Is there a way to fix this problem at home with out having to take it into repair or paying any kind of money? If you need to know what kind of laptop it is, it is a Dell Latitude D505

It could have a virus. The best thing to do would be to get it fixed with a repair; even if you have to pay money.

It could be the laptop overheating or a bad charger. If the laptop is overheating, it will shut down by itself to ensure it doesn't burn any hardware. If the charger is bad, then it does that because it is defective. If the laptop is overheating, make sure it is getting enough ventilation and the fans are clean. If its the charger, I would suggest you get a replacement as soon as possible. You can search online on sites like ebay or amazon but I would personally suggest you visit ChargerBuy. Such as the following two dell d505 chargers are for your reference:

Hello Justin,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the below link and see it helps. If it doesn't, It's more likely that you have a motherboard failure.

Also, If you want to email me your service tag number, I will have a look at your warranty status to see what options we have. You can reach me at Krishna_KRN@Dell.com
