Someone played it on me in facebook word with friends and it just sounds cool. Can you use vocabulary and metaphors that a teenage girl with no interest in science (other than learning this word) can understand.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quasar If you have no interest in science you will have no idea what it's about.

http://www.thunderbolts.info/tpod/00subj...tm#Quasars Still science, but these have pretty pictures.

Sure, it's a good word. I believe it's a "portmanteau" word, one that wraps up other words. In this case, it comes from "quasi-stellar radio source." In other words, it is LIKE a star. It is way/way/way out in space some place, but it is very densely packed energy and/or matter putting out electromagnetic radiation instead of light. We know it is there, but we don't "see" it except by radio wave detection.

Quasar refers to a very energetic and or distant and active galactic nucleus. If you are not very familiar with the science terms, this may be new to you, but if you are fond of reading. this is easier. Try to study more words that starts with Q or high scoring words, so you can get high scores in Words with Friends game. I also posted an article here on how you can improve your scores in this game.
