Bloody hard work...

You need

To take off the stary eyes I'll do anything... do not answer any phone numbers here or let star struck eyes blind you to common sense... hurt, killed, raped, sex slaved... these things happen to young folk stupid enough to be so up on becoming a star they forget common sense.

A) Very good memory and the ability to learn fast. Ie get your mates to get tell you a sequence of moves several at a time and see how quick you can learn them... You will have to do that in audition. If you can't do it straight away forget it.

B) Get very fit, get on a good healthy diet. Get advice from doctors. So bye bye cream cakes, chocies, crisps etc. This does not mean scoff dodgy pills or amphetamines/appetite suppressants.

C) Dedication ie getting up to practice before school and lots. Vast amounts of exercises especailly stretchy ones.

D) this will help... Rent out the film Highlander... (i know this sounds wacky) see the end bit just after conner beheads the baddie Kurgen, and says, 'There can be only one...' Music is like that if a bit more pleasant ... oh and full blast sound.

You don't listen to music you feel it, like the force in star wars with all the music in the writers, and singers and feel it flowing through you like you can see it... Just like the energy field at the end of the Highlander movie. You feel it in your heart and soul (not the religious one) And learn to do this with your eyes closed, like wearing a blind fold... Blot out all else. Just see it, draw it, the energy, feel like a coiled spring like you are super human like Neo off the matrix or if sexy picture you boyfriend in front of you like you are going to make his pants explode etc.(or the opposite for a girl friend).

These are examples of the basics you should be able to find what works for you..

E) With that and the exercise ...Martial arts will help to... try Capoeria combined with a proper violent one (considering some of the dancer jobns you will get that may come in handy.

F) Advisable to study law for contracts for you dont get shafted... Its a harsh and nasty industry.

G) If something sounds to good to be true its not... Watch the TV series 'Human Traffic' Be careful, Avoid Private addresses, take your parents with you or strong streetwise adult (if you a kid and that includes teenager even pretty old high school ones...

H) Stay off the drugs.

I) Acknowledge the common job for pro dancers is Pole Dancing, ie withotu clothes. Could you handle that...? Again what mattered if you do go for that... its essential you work in a 'nice place' ie public with decent nice management who look after not expolit you and care about you... PS thats lucrative.

Playboy for porn is a good company that looks after its staff as are companies it works with. I have got that from those who worked with them...They are upfront about things and don't force.

Dodgy operators from the classified ads telling you to meet in some flat are not usually.

J) Learn to type 45wmp+ pref 60WPM, You will not get that many jobs.. you will need to do lots of temp work, and office is common.A trade may help to like electrician or carpenter... Both pay well and get you into the industry. Also allowing self employment good for those auditions.

Likewise try bar work.

K) Develop VERY good social skills as that industry is very much who you know and how well they like you and networking, plus piss off the wrong guy even if you are good they could make it hard to find work.

M) You may go on tour that means living on a coach and not seeing your friends, family and boyfriend/girlfriend.

N) With all of that in mind join a dance school, finsd out what the good ones are that companies go to. Try many styles and pick one that not only you are good at but there is demand for. Or a famous school for performing arts. They should have contacts and advice...

Likewise where the good physiostherapists are for injuries are...
Think what are you going to do when you get hurt and can't dance or audition.

Plus as said the trade is good when you get too old to dance as is leaning the behind the scenes stuff.


And show this to your folks and a professional dance school and ask them for the warts and all no bullshit truth about things.
