Can social media bring neighbors together again?

Do you think you'd be down with it if social media could help to connect you with your neighbors (ie: apartment neighbors or permanent neighbors)? Are you even interested in connecting with them? Although I guess it depends if you're living in an apartment as opposed to a house.

Facebook, for example, could help you know more about your neighbors, you can learn about their interests and thus know what to talk about.

I make a concerted effort to minimize my social contacts with people living in my apartment building. There are so many people with psychiatric problems living here that it just isn't safe.

If you want to bring neighbors together again, start having more neighborhood cook outs!

IMO: If you want to connect with neighbors, do it face to face.
Use of any sort of media will just be an obstruction.
