I have a very large family. We had a huge surprise birthday party for my grandma. She turned 80 last month. Everyone went to Olive Garden.

One of my dads cousin Jeanie has me on Facebook. Today was the first time we actually met in person. She walks up to my cousin Ann and said "where is leandra?" And my cousin pointed my way. Jeanie comes over and starts talking to me as if she has known me for along time. And the whole lunch she kept staring at me from across the room. It was awkward.

It felt weird when I was younger.

I have a lot of "aunts" that aren't blood related. Just my grandma's friends, but I call them Aunt because they are so close to the family and I have to do it out of respect for elders instead of calling them by their first name only.

But my grandma would talk about me to them (good and bad) and it's kinda embarrassing that they know so much about you the first time you meet. Even if they are "family" I still need to build a relationship with them first.

I hate that too. My uncle Roy knows me but I haven't seen him since I was 2 years old. I might see him this Spring though. I have a fairly small family. I have never meet alot of them because they are all crazy.

I have a lot of family that I've never met on my mom's side. They spawn like rabbits over there. I don't know how many of them know me or not.

Actually for me it's the other way around. I have a huge family as well. A lot of people may recognise me, saying "I remember when you were a little kid", and I have no idea who they are haha. My family lives in many areas of Mexico, and some in the US as well, but most of them live in a little town in Mexico, so that's where a lot of my family goes to visit. That's where I may meet family who is visiting while I'm over there and I don't know who they are.
