Google Chrome how to change home page AND new tab page?

i downloaded something that changed it and i want both the home page when you first open google chrome and the new tab page to be the new tab page that has apps like youtube, facebook, netflix, etc. i went to settings and changed the "on startup" to open the new tab page and I changed it to new tab page under the "appearance" section too but nothing changed.

hit the tools button in the top right and go to settings..

under the
on startup (option)
select open a specific set of pages... and select pages option and add only the homepage you want.
