how can i delete my facebook account?

someone on facebook sent me a virus and i opened it, not knowing it was a virus. Now, the virus has been sending itself to my friends and now they think im like insane.
Can I get it to stop or do I need to delete my account, and if so, how do you do that?

You go on settings and somewhere it should say 'delete account'.
It may be hard to find because they obviously don't want you to delete your account!

Settings -> My Account -> Deactivate Account -> Click Deactivate
