The recent rape cases and crime on women is now becoming a hot topic. Though one side many in some cases the culprits are punished but in the most of the cases the victims are at loss and in torture..both mental and physical. Experts may argue to enhance strict laws but the question is "Why Rapes are increasing and is Indian cinema any where involved in shaping the young minds in wrong direction"..? Not just Hindi movies, even the regional films show the women (or heroines) in bad and low format. The scenes include kissing, bed scenes, vulgar moves, extra-marital affairs, item songs, nudity, navel exposure, vulgar words, and the heroines are shown in poor light and always as a "sex object". The crowd is always carried away with those sexual scenes and young men are almost loosing the respect for women and feel shy to call any body "sister". Gone are days of "Mother India", etc ... when women in cinema were shown with at most respect. Though it is difficult to decide "right or wrong", but has time come that "Indian Cinema" should re-introspect itself and make films in right direction.

Cinema can make culture and if its just for entertainment it leads to this culture corruption.
Medias should be used to reduce culture flaws not to fix them in people's minds.
I agree that Indian movies have changed a lot once they could be watched even by children nowadays some of them should be categorized as 18+ and its Unfortunate.
they are fostering a corrupt generation.

Cinema is not solely responsible for objectification of women, media, TV are equally responsible for it.

Cinema hasn't actually done that.Cinema portrays/reflects people's lives and society on screen;though not accurately all the time.

In earlier times, women were burnt alive during Sati. There was widespread ignorance.Girls as young as 3-5 years old were "married off".So,how can you blame cinema alone??

Our Indian society hasn't progressed intellectually. It is still in the dark ages!

I think you've posted an interesting question.
In India, women are directly and openly blamed for everything.
Indians worship Goddesses only because they want something in return.e.g.people worship Ma Laksmi because they think She will bless them with loads of money.
Nobody prays for good health and good things;all they want is money.

I agree with you-Indians have changed a lot.Nowadays, boys in our schools, colleges or neighbourhood do not want to be our brothers anymore but want "fraaandship" with us so that they can sleep with us later. It is SAD.Now,these brothers try to flirt/sleep with us.

Moreover, the cinema always portrays women in a wrong way.Women are shown in roles where they worship their in-laws and husbands and get a lot of aashirwaad in return. And women who don't are shown as stripp*rs,bar dancers and item girls.Modern women aren't shown in movies at all.Only the so called "good girls" and "vamps/item girls" are shown.Se* scenes are always shown in a bad/wrong state.

I will add more to your observations, saying that not just Cinema even media , internet, TV channels and shows, comics etc have totally converted a "Woman" into a "Sex Object". Surprisingly the women organizations though never raise issues and protests against cinema , TV channels, porn etc which are one of the main reasons. No one raises any objection on these movies which are involved in showing women as "sex symbols". Cinema is using "Sex scenes" as "Opium" to engage and attract more and more people. "Sex Sells" is becoming a reality and the westernization is visible in India (especially after 1990s)... The next generation lacks intellectual mind, unaware of social and political scenarios , and lack responsibility..They are greedy of money and there is immense increase in their desire , but largely they remain discontent with life and lack of happiness is still visible.. Simplicity is a "sin", moral values are "jokes"... Wait and see after 50 years women will soon loose the status of "sister", "mother", "friend", "aunty", "grand ma", .."cousin"..even "wife"...they will only be portrayed as "SEX OBJECTS" with "NILL RESPECT".... Again i will blame largely women for this "Ugly Culture" .....
