Ban horse racing? What do you think?
On twitter #banhorseracing is trending and I disagree :/ they horses do acc enjoy it and it's British history they won't just stop it. I mean it's bad that horses die and very sad, but it's in the horses best interest Synchronized and According To Pete would have lived a terrible life if they weren't put down.

Everyone on twitter saying that are two faced because they don't say ban slaughtering cows, because they still want their beef, same with chickens and fishing, nobody says ban fishing even though it kills millions of fish daily, I think it's very hypocritical to say ban horse racing, someone even said "it's because they don't care about horses, if a rider died they end it in a heartbeat" but that's wrong, jockeys have died in the past, not very often but they have and it's very sad but it won't stop the grand national from taking place, I think they should make the jumps smaller, some are 5ft3 tall and 6ft wide which is ridiculously big, but it shouldn't stop it all together

Those are just my views on horse racing, what about you?
Btw if a horse didn't want to race it simply wouldn't, they are so strong it would buck, throw the jockey off and run away you see how if a jockey falls off the horse, the horse keeps running to complete the race!

It is hypocritical of them if they're going to make a big deal about it and not get into other "related" fields. Personally, I don't think it's a problem for the horses or most riders. The bits about some jockeys dying is of course sad, but again it won't stop the races altogether.

Let me show you some statistics:

The amount of fucks I give when some rich fops cheer over some animals running in circles: 0

The amount of fucks I give when some rich fops don't have any animals running in circles to cheer over: 0

I didn't read the entire thing however I have a stance.
Most of the animals that have to race are abused. That includes grey hounds and horses. More than likely the owners and handlers horrible abuse the animals for their own greed and selfishness. I do not agree with animal abuse in the least, in fact I detest it with every ounce in my body. Animals can't talk and tell us whats wrong. The humans that are supposed to care for them are supposed to take care of their needs. We are supposed to be the voice of the animals. Animals have just as many feelings as us. They feel pain. They just can't tell us exactly whats wrong. I think it's pretty pointless to race animals. Especially to the degree that many do. I could understand playful and fun races so the animals enjoy them. But not cruel ones.

Nah!!!!!! it shouldn't be banned. It is the reason why horses are treated so well. Their stables are so well maintained and their owners keep extensive care of them for this simple reason. If they ban horse-racing it would be bad for us too. we would lose a source of entertainment too(this sounds selfish!!).

Edit: Horses are trained to run every time or they have a nice spanking from their trainers. I'm a horse-rider and I've seen young foals being trained to be good horses at my school's stable. the trainers hit them bad, so when they grow up they follow the riders instructions. that's a brutal period of any horse's life and i was feel sooo bad whenever i see a foal being trained. they are hit bad so when they grow up, they are so scared to get that spanking and that is why they follow our orders...... A horse rarely refuses commands when it grows up and ever if it does, that means it is either frightened or in a bad mood and if it continues to refuse for a few days, the trainer treats him bad again until it starts accepting commands. This is sad but necessary for riders safety

I don't think horse racing should be banned, but I would support a ban on the Grand National. It's too much and more horses die in that race than any other.

Race horses are treated very well. Of course it depends on the trainer... but the majority of the trainers, especially the big names that you see run in the major stakes races, they treat their horses very well. Racehorses get better vet and farrier attention than any other horse. Since they live at the track, they have better access to those things. The trainers are always very careful to make sure the horses are fit and healthy. The difference between racehorses and normal horses is that if a normal horse steps out of its stall lame, the owner will feel its legs and try to find what's wrong, but probably conclude that the horse will get better and put it back in the stall at least for a couple days before they call the vet. If a racehorse steps out of the stall lame, the trainer will want to know the reason right away so they'll call the vet right away. Normal horses probably get their feet trimmed every 2 months or so. THe most important part of the racehorse is the feet, so they're careful to keep the feet trimmed so they will get done more often than every 2 months.

Racehorses get the top grain... the stuff with the most energy content (since racehorses need a lot of energy to run). And they get access to as much hay as they want... you've probably seen pictures of the racehorses in their stalls and seen the big bags of hay outside the door that the horse can pick at whenever they're hungry.

For the most part, racehorses are treated really well.

I'm not a die-hard fan of horse racing but I do enjoy a bit of a flutter. I can understand why people don't like it, it's really sad when horses fall and have to be put down, but I don't think it should be banned. Instead I think they need to make the jumps lower just to make it easier for the horses to clear them. These horses are very well looked after and aren't put down if their injuries are treatable. And besides, horses are built for running and they love doing it, you can see all those riderless horses carry on, sometimes right up to the end.

I think horses, like any animal, should be kept to live a good life, not for others entertainment. They follow orders because they are whipped and beaten by their owners, they will be put down for hurting a human, they can't just kick a rider off of it's back, they know from past experience that they will be beat. The only reason they get so much "vet care" is because their tendons and muscles are constantly being strained by them being forced to run. Just because other animals have it worse, doesn't make this ok.

Just like I think bull riding and bull running, and cock fighting is animal cruelty, this is just another abuse of animals for entertainment. Killing cows, hunting, and fishing, are for food, we have to eat and it's something we've done since cavemen and what some people on the world still depend on to survive, that's just nature (though some forms of slaughtering are inhumane and I don't support hunting for sport), but NOT horse riding wont kill or deprive anyone. It's pointless and unfair to the animal.

Also, they have a huge drug problem in the racing industry, a horse should not be on drugs! Yes, there are many owner who love and care for their horses and don't treat them cruelly, and their horses love to run, but there are way too many owners who don't have the animals best intentions in mind and abuse them and the animals only run in fear, and this industry encourages it. They breed to many horses that end up not making it.

Sorry, not reading all of that. Think of it this way: the horses in horse races are well cared for while there are animals out there being beaten and starved. Just watch Animal Cops sometime and you'll see how much better it would be if the horses on there were in horse races. Anyway I disagree with your additional detail. Please, learn a little bit about animals to see how vulnerable and obedient they are.
