Both. It's connected the world which is incredible......but it's ruined kids being active and ruined countless marriages.

Its literally evolution, most scientists would argue that its a social evolution and a very good thing. People have access to a database consisting of knowledge that is invariably quantisized in comparison to that which was available back then. It links all humans together and combines our knowledge, making everybody in posession of a smart phone have knowledge equivalant to the entire human collective.

Probably a bit of both. On one hand it can let you meet and be friends with people you'd normally wouldn't other wise. Take online games. They take down social walls and I have met many much older and younger people from different sub cultures I wouldn't ever probably be around in real life and have been wonderful friends. It also allows us to absorb vast amounts of information so easily and conveniently. On the other hand it has made us, in many ways, much less connected. Facebook makes alot of people narcissistic and encourages low self esteem, since you're constantly comparing yourself to others and pretending to have lots of friends. So its much a double edged sword.
