When should I ask my mom if i can get a Facebook?
I am 13 and all of my friends have Facebook accounts. My mom is worried about me getting one because there are so many bad people. Should I ask? I am worried that she will say no.

Well, tell her that she should start a Facebook account as well. That way she could add you and see if there are any creepers talking to you on your wall. Also, there are many different privacy settings that will prevent any weirdos from contacting you. So, all you have to do is ask and explain that there are many ways to help protect you from bad people on Facebook.

Just ask.. I got mine at 12 years old. and my friend is 8 and he has one... just say you understand not to talk to strangers and you will only socialize with people you know in real life.... Also if you get a facebook they got some decent ass hackers so get ready. But people usually know if u got hacked or not.

There reallly isnt any "bad people". Just dont accept anyone you dont know. Dont add anyone you dont know just because you want to have alot of friends. Make all your settings private . Ask now and tell her you'll do all that

Yes, have your mom get a Facebook account so she can help you learn to use it. Facebook has a 'privacy policy' that can make your private information public unless you go in the settings and change them. You can also change settings so only certain people can see your pictures and wall posts.

If you look at some of the questions here, you'll see that people often regret putting things on Facebook that they should have kept private. In my case, I use a fake name on Facebook but my friends and family know who I really am. Maybe your mom will feel more comfortable if you have a Facebook account but remain 'anonymous' by not using your real identity.

EDIT:

By the way, Facebook is definitely not 'safe and secure'! There are hacks for Facebook, and sometimes, people you know can steal your password and then get into your account and cause all sorts of problems for you. Like I said, look at the questions here and you'll see that a lot of people get themselves into trouble because of Facebook so please be careful.

Once you're mature enough to not worry about whether you mother "consents" or not, then you'll know you're old enough to get a Facebook account.

Don't tell your mom! Or if you must, tell her you have an online class group (I have these btw, this is where people post their ideas, solution to problems, etc.)
otherwise, don't. Back in the day when myspace was popular, I used this social network and I never told my mom. Haha. If you do not want her to find out, lock your door or use it when your parents are not around. But be careful.
Also, ADD/ACDEPT FRIEND REQUESTS OF PEOPLE YOU ONLY KNOW. Don't add people you do not know, thats risky.
