Is the MacBook Pro or Air better?

I am a freshman in high school. I plan on using the laptop to do some school work (research, essays, power points, excel, publisher, etc.) I also plan to use it for personal use such as YouTube, Facebook, and web browsing. Which of the two laptops would be better for me and why? I have heard mixed opinions from friends and family as to which I should get.

Define 'better'. As far as specs and performance goes, the Pro is the better choice.

But for what you are planning on doing, the cheaper Air is more than enough.

The Pro is "better", but it depends on what your needs are. I like the more professional look of the Pro better, but the lightweight feel of the air is definitely nice.
