How can I get my Yamaha Clavinova CVP-7 to work with Garageband?

Just bought a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-7 (old!). I have a cheap MIDI-USB cable, that appears to be working just fine. When I plug the cable in, Garageband recognizes another MIDI input ("the number of MIDI devices has changed. There is now one..."), but I can't get it to actually play. I also have checked in the OS X System Profiler, and the MIDI device is showing up in the USB Bus, too. Is there something simple that I'm missing here?
