Can you have more than one gmail account linked to your phone number?

I'm making a new email that doesn't link to any of my social networking sites or apps that I've used because I don't want jobs or colleges to find my Facebook account or anything when they do a background checkup. I'm not an outlaw or anything, I just want certain parts of my life private and I don't want anyone stalking my profile or friends list.

Does anyone know if entering my phone number into a new gmail account will somehow link it to my other gmail account that I've used the same phone number for??
