Why do people think that you need facebook to make friends?
Or is it just me and I am exaggerating?
Well, I don't think I am exaggerating. I think it's depressing for people to talk behind a screen rather than face to face conversation. I'm not a school kid anymore, I don't have facebook, I don't have friends anyway so I don't have a social life.

I doubt that is the case, I am also a school-kid and don't have Facebook, I never get told that. I believe it should actually be the other way, if you have to be behind a computer screen to talk to your friends then you can't quite go accusing others of having a lack of social life. By the way not everyone thinks they NEED Facebook for friends, that would be an exaggeration of the question. In the place where I live not many people have Facebook and everyone has each other added as friends.

So the point is it isn't necessarily true and saying 'everyone' views it as this can be a slight exaggeration.

Good luck.
Jayke.

You don't need a facebook for anything. I don't know of anyone that has made a friend off of it. How did people make friends 10 years ago?

"More than 800 people 'unfriend'ed Mitt Romney in Facebook, after his loss in presidential elections".

-That is some social life...

But to be honest,
I think it is good to have a few 'good' friends in Facebook, because when you post pictures and comments ,,and you look back at it after 30 or 40 years,I think it will bring some happiness to your heart. You know, seeing yourself and your friends young and our families too.

I personally would recommend Facebook, just 'know' your friends.

Many people consider those who DO have Facebook not to have a social life. Facebook is, by it's very nature, something you do by yourself.

Not a real social life anyway. It's SOOO easy to just slot replies into Facebook at whatever time or place suits your convenience. But how well do you really know the person?

And it's so easy on Facebook to create an online identity that's nothing like how you are in real life.

Some people may not want to live their lives online. A social life not in the public domain doesn't mean no social life at all. It just means you value your privacy. It's a lot easier to keep in control of your life without it being open to scrutiny. For instance (just to give one example) stuff you say on Facebook carries a risk of getting you in trouble at work

People on Facebook may feel annoyed that they have to make more effort with someone not on it. Like actually TALKING to that person in real time. Which means both of you being at the same place at the same time. Yes, with all the effort that involves!

Facebook does help you get to know a bit about someone before you see them in person. And Facebook does let you interact totally at your convenience? But sitting at a computer tapping buttons on a keyboard is hardly a social life? Or is it? If that's all people want these days the people in your question may be right.

There are tons of advantages to not being on any social networking sites. Do not feel pressurised to run with the crowd.

And there's nothing "wrong" with not having a social life, but I hope you're using your time and gifts wisely.

All the best!
