Any ideas on how to get a babysitting job?
I'm trying to make a little extra money on the side, and I thought babysitting would be a good idea. Problem is, I don't know anyone with kids. I'm red-cross certified and used to look after my sister, so I have the experience. Any suggestions on the best way to get a job?

Network! It's not just for middle-aged people anymore. You didn't mention your age, so forgive me if something is not applicable:
-Use your parents, siblings, friend's parents as a starting point, let them know what you are looking for; even if they don't know anyone off-hand, now that you have planted that seed in their mind, they will think of you next time someone mentions needing a sitter.
-Use your church, community groups, any sort of social gathering to put your request out there. Same as above, really.
-If there is a local college, see if you can check their jobs board/listing. When I was in college, these boards had a ton of child care listings, both one-time, part-time, full-time, on call, etc. You may or may not need to be a student to see it.
-Craigslist or another local listing service might be good to check or to put your (free) ad up. Not sure if this is as viable; I certaintly wouldn't go there for childcare needs, but if you really don't know anyone, it might help.

Advertising!

Make business cards and ask convenient stores, flower shops, etc. if you can leave them in there.

Or make one of those papers where you have your phone number on slits of papers and people can just rip it off. A lot of places have cork board with a bunch of stuff like that on it (at least where I live; stores, banks, fast food places..)

Good luck!
