Do acronyms (like YOLO for example) annoy you? Why?
I am do a GCSE controlled assessment in English about 'what you would get rid of to improve the 21st century.'

I'm planning on saying acronyms (more along the lines of media ones and ones used on twitter and Other social network sites) but I can't think of more reasons why they annoy me or how getting rid of them will improve life.

For example: YOLO (you only live once) I think if used properly it can be great but when people say "Just got hit by a car. #YOLO" it becomes stupid and meaningless.

Also I hate it when acronyms (the slang/internet ones) are used in everyday life conversations. Like "lol" It ruins speech sometimes, it not understandable to people who don't know what it means and it can get irritating and old.

So why do internet acronyms annoy you?, how do they become so popular and give examples of one that you hate.

Thanks

Ps. I dont COMPLETELY hate acronyms, I'm using them for humor purposes.
Sorry, first sentence should say: "I am doing GCSE controlled assessment in English about 'What you would get rid of to improve life in the 21st century."

No they don't annoy me, as long as they are fix ones like NATO, NASA, UFO, etc. but a GCSE does!

is this for speaking and listening? or written work
try and think of different points for why they annoy you, for example they are just the first letter of each word put together and not even the whole words
if it is written you could also include made up fictional information like stats of british people who 'don't like YOLO' for example
look at your notes and plan your ideas before you do your assessment, if its speaking and listening then practice your speech in the bedroom mirror until you're confident with it
