Do you think a gay and a muslim can be friends at Facebook?

I have a gay friend who told me some muslims from Africa have asked him to be his friends at Facebook.
But he didn't accept them as his friends because according to him it's very strange. He asked me:

"I am gay. Then, why would a muslim want me as his/her friend?"

What do you think?
That's strange, samir_sogay. Because in all your other answers about homosexuality you spoke against it. Do you have 2 different words?

Depends on their preference, I suppose. Muslims have a history of befriending folks from all walks of life, you know.

Some Muslims are actually okay with homosexuality.
I knew this straight Muslim guy, and he was originally from the Middle East, but he was fine with LGBT people and even supported same sex marriage.
I don't think it's impossible.
However, if he doesn't really know this people, I wouldn't recommend adding them.

It would depend on how extreme the religious person was in their religion.
for example,
I have a Muslim friend
atheist friends
gay/lesbian friends.
Christan friends
agnostic friends
one of my friends is even buddhist.
we all attend college together and are all very close.

the important question is why cant we? i have christian , atheist and more people i didnt really care what is their religion we can be friends with anyone unless they hate us , our religion or want to harm us

As with Christians, there are Muslims who have no problem with gay people. It's the fact that this seems to be a group of strangers wanting to befriend him for no obvious reason that is worrying. I'm sure there are gay people on facebook who are friends with Muslims on facebook, but they probably have things in common, or know each other in real life. I suppose it's possible that these people are living in a place where they have to hide being gay, and are reaching out to people in other countries, but could he find out what their motives are without any risk to himself? If he can, and he wants to, then he should go ahead, but he should be cautious and keep himself safe.
