So I saw an ad online for a job. They want you to email your resume. What should I say in the email? Should I do a cover letter too even though it didn't list it? Should I introduce myself?

YES do a cover letter ALWAYS!

You can attach the resume to the email and in the email you can tell them the following.
1) Summary of your career ( more like where you are coming from)
2) Why them?
3) How can you be a contributing factor to the success of their company?
4) What makes you better than other potential employees
5) Show them how authentically interested and excited you are for the position you are applying for
6) Research about that company and know about what they do, their background and their goals. You can use this information to subtlety include statements in your email that indicate you are well aware and knowledgeable about the company.

Make sure your Facebook page is impressive looking without derogatory pictures and comments.

You should put a BRIEF paragraph
Say your name, and that you are interested in the position (name the position, this guy might have several jobs on offer), mention where you saw the ad. Finish with something like "Please find my Resume attached. Sincerely, your name"

A good Resume starts with a cover letter. The first page should just be your contact details and you cover letter.

Good luck
