Is there a way to still keep a user as a friend but not see anything they post?

My boyfriend and I just broke up and I don't want to delete him off Facebook cause I hope that later in the future we can be friends and I don't want him to think im really pissed at him, but it will help me get over him to not see his face all over my newsfeed. Is there a way I can stop seeing things he does from at least coming into my newsfeed while still keeping him as a friend?

Go to a post of his, and hold your cursor (or maybe click) the little widget on the right. You get a menu, where you can Hide various categories of his posts, including ALL.

You're still "friends" but you won't see his stuff.
