do it in a nice caring way, because everybody has feeling.......I dont know the history of your relationship with him. But if he had the title of boyfriend he must have been special at some point, so dont be harsh, just tell him a nice way..think of a nice way to tell him

Ignore him - it is your life and you do the choosing. Here is a post re 'catfish' dating. Hope it is helpful.
Catfish Online Dating
A 'catfish' is a person who creates a false profile online in the hopes of luring people into a romantic relationship. They pretend to be someone they are not by using another persons pictures and information. 'Catfish' use social media such as Facebook or Twitter as well as internet dating sites with the intention of getting someone to fall in love with them. What are some warning signs that indicate you may be dealing with 'catfish'?
If you have fallen in love from behind the keyboard and have not yet met in real life, you might be a victim of a 'catfish'. When someone is reluctant to meet face to face, maybe they are misrepresenting themselves. Unless you just want to be a digital penal, move on.
If it seems to good to be true, be careful. Stay away from model types. 'Catfish' can post stock photos or pictures they have found on the internet. The real person might be overweight, an amputee or deaf and rather you did not know these realities. Check Facebook profiles and use Skype. Have them hold up their drivers license. Authenticity will ensure you are a winner.
Watch for abnormal behavior in communication - if they are not consistent online they are not going to be consistent in a relationship. If they do not follow through with scheduled chat dates, that may indicate that your special someone is being untruthful.
The online dating masquerade is more prevalent than one might think so always use your instincts. Be candid about each others values, dreams and life experiences. The best marker of a legitimate relationship is when your prospective match wants to introduce you to his or her family and friends.
At the end of a digital day, online dating is a numbers game. You need to play to win - but always use common sense. The need to love and be loved is so great that some people feel the need to expand the truth in their online dating profiles in order to find a fit. Be diligent and have fun.
