Bringing traffic to my blog through social media?

Hello everybody, am new to all this traffic generator thing, but i really wanna know how and what is the best way to get traffic through social media websites e.g (Facebook, flicker, myspace, friendster, hi5....etc)

1) Network: make sure you connect with as many people as possible. Send friendquest after friendquest to build your connectivity. Talk to them about your about your blog; make sure you include links to your blog on your profile page. Some social networks enable you to leave signatures after messages -- make sure that signature is a link to your blog so that even people you're not connected to might end up clicking on it.

2) Group Forums:Another excellent way to generate traffic through social media sites is to join groups related to the topic that your blog covers. Choose the groups with the big numbers and let them know that you're blogging. If your connectivity is really wide, open a group of your own and syndicate some of the data you're blogging into the group forum. This will encourage people to check out the actual blog.

3) Virtual Interactive Tools: Use widgets to enable people who read your blog to interact with each other; enhancing their experiences on your blog.

One of the best ways to get targeted traffic to your blog is by writing articles about your subject matter and submitting them to the top articles directories. Another way is to get a list of blogs that have a high pr ranking and posting relevant comments on them with links back to your blog. Obviously you would be looking for blogs that are related to your subject matter. Check out http://www.commenthut.com , download their free demo version, enter related keywords and copy the list of blogs that come up. Then you just go and post on them. Some will allow you to do that and some won't, you just have to weed through them. These methods are far more effective then social networking for traffic.
