What do i do with my IPod?

I have a 1st Generation Apple Ipod touch, I recently Reset the Ipod, & now I cant download apps or anything because my ipod is in version 4.2.1 ? I tried downloading like Facebook and IBooks and it wont let me because i need a higher version on my Ipod. Before I reset my ipod I was able to download Ibooks and what not because I had a higher version. I tryed to like update the Ipod to a higher version and its telling me that 4.2.1 is the highest version. Someone please help My ipod is like my life

You must have the 2nd generation if you have 4.2.1 because the 1st generation can only go to 3.1.3. And your level of iOS is obsolete now unfortunately.

4.2.1 is the highest version 1st gen can have. theres nothing you can do, unless you buy the latest ipod
