Does adding the boy you like to Facebook actually work?

Hi! I'd like to know if it is a good idea to add to Facebook a boy you usually see somewhere and who you feel attracted to, but you have never talked to. Is it better to leave a message when you send the invitation or not? Then, supposing he accepted you, how would you start chatting?

Sounds too desperate, if he was interested in you then he would contact you.

But, don't message him on facebook until you guys have actually talked in real life or it'll seem desperate.

I would add him for sure.

Depends how confident you feel about messaging him, I wouldn't say something like ' hey, how are you' because tbh that sounds boring and there's more of a chance he will ignore you and then you'll feel really rejectected.
Say something like ' heyy i've seen you around and felt like adding youu so erm hi'
That way you're making it casual and less chance he will ignore it.. that being said he still might, but at least you've given it your best efforts without sounding majorly keen .
Its worked for me in the past .
