How is welfare portrayed in the media?

Varies with different societies and with the political slant of the media in those societies:

Those dominated by right wing media corporations tend to portray 'Welfare' as the relationship between
- lazy individuals manipulating the Government to bleed
- hardworking tax payers to direct their hard earned resources to them and a creating
- a 'bloated inefficient set of government bureaucracies" in the process.

There are also biases based on racism(refs 1 and 2)

Other media from an opposite paradigm model it as
- a social security system set at low levels to enable the socially marginalised to live at near subsistence level but not always managing to support all those who should be covered by the system.(ref 3)

Which leaves us wondering who would want to work for the governmemt social welfare system as whatever they do they are portrayed as doing it wrong.
